My Approach

My therapy approach is influenced by the following modalities:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours to promote emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.

Psychoanalytic Therapy: Rooted in Freudian principles, this therapy explores unconscious thoughts and childhood experiences to gain insight into current behaviour and emotional issues.

Humanistic Therapy: Emphasises self-exploration, personal growth, and self-actualization. Person-Centered Therapy, a type of humanistic therapy, is one of the most well-known approaches in this category.

Gestalt Therapy: Focuses on enhancing self-awareness and understanding by exploring the present moment and personal responsibility for thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapies: Incorporates mindfulness meditation and awareness techniques to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and depression.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness strategies to help individuals regulate emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and develop distress tolerance skills.

Narrative Therapy: Helps individuals reframe their personal stories and narratives, empowering them to create positive change and overcome challenges.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Focuses on identifying and amplifying clients' strengths and resources to facilitate solutions to their problems, often in a brief timeframe.

Trauma-Focused Therapies: Specific therapies designed to address trauma-related issues.

Existential Therapy: Focuses on exploring the meaning and purpose of life, freedom, responsibility, and the individual's search for significance in the face of existential challenges.

The Gottman Method for Couples: An approach to couples therapy that integrates research based interventions.

It's important to note that therapists often use an integrative approach, combining elements from different types of therapy to best suit their clients' needs. The choice of therapy depends on the specific concerns of the individual and the expertise of the therapist.
